In the beginning of my time in Mrs.
Schimm’s class, I noticed that there was a lot of interest and questions about
painting and mixing colors. I decided to use this for my lessons throughout the
semester and go deeper into that with the students.
We have explored with painting with
different materials like sponges and leaves. The children have mixed all
different kinds of colors when I only put out red, blue, yellow, and white
paint. The children also love to share their ideas with their friends on how
they made a certain color. We have had different discussions like “how do you
make hot pink? Or “how do you make silver?” and we have experimented on how to
make these colors.
Recently we have painted with letter
sponges, painted pumpkins, and painted self portraits. The children have been
engaged and love to paint different pictures of their family, dinosaurs,
animals, and lots of other things they see outside. Going forward we are going
to work on painting with more details and continue to make new colors!
