The Ducks are Here!
We have a lot of exciting things happening in room 8 right now! Among them is the new addition of an incubator. In the incubator we have four different kinds of ducks: Rouen, Welsh Harlequin, Blue Swedish and Buff. The eggs will be in the incubator for the next 28 days. We will be keeping a close eye on the temperature and humidity level in the incubator to ensure that the eggs are developing. On day 7 we will get to start the candling process. This means that we will take flashlight and look through the shell to see if we can see veins inside of the egg. We look forward to documenting their progress!
After the ducks hatch, they will live in room 2 for two weeks in a brooder before they will be delivered to a former teacher of the ECEC's home where they will have lots of land a pond and newly built shelter for them to call home!
We welcome visitors to look at the eggs but please help us to keep the eggs safe by keeping hands off the incubator and being careful not to bump the table it is sitting on. Thank you!
